Job Advertisement: Trawl Maker and Marine Engineer at Fiskeriselskabet Westbank ApS
Fiskeriselskabet Westbank ApS, a renowned fishing company headquartered in Vestervig, Denmark, is expanding its team and seeking two dedicated Trawl-Binders and one exceptional Marine Engineer. As part of a small, close-knit team operating on our fleet of shrimp trawlers (two operational vessels and a third one on the way), we are looking for versatile professionals who can handle a variety of tasks and thrive in collaborative, demanding environments.
Positions:
Trawl-Maker(2 positions)
Marine Engineer (1 position)
Location: Vestervig, Denmark
Job Type: Full-time, 7-8 days per trip, 1-2 days at port, relocation to Denmark required, housing to be provided.
Key Responsibilities for Trawl-Maker:
- Applying your advanced deckhand experience on our shrimp trawlers.
- Conducting world-class trawl-net repairing and maintenance.
- Assisting with various marine operations and machine maintenance tasks as required.
- Ensuring effective communication and collaboration with team members.
- Managing the trawler's steering watch/night watch.
- Supporting the Marine Engineer
Key Responsibilities for Marine Engineer:
- Overseeing, maintaining, and troubleshooting all machine operations onboard.
- Ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency during all operations.
- Managing the trawler's steering watch/night watch.
- Assisting with the cooking and preparation of the caught shrimp and other industry fish onboard.
- Supporting in trawl-net repair and other deck operations as needed.
- Ensuring effective communication and collaboration with team members.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Trawl-Maker and/or Marine Engineer.
- Versatility and adaptability in handling a wide array of tasks on board. Everyone needs to do everything onboard. It’s a small crew!
- Exceptional communication skills to ensure smooth team operations.
- Strong skill set in trawl-net repairing (for Trawl-Binders).
- Excellent knowledge in managing and maintaining all machine operations onboard (for Marine Engineer).
- Experience in steering watch/night watch (for both Trawl-binders and Marine Enginer).
- Ability to cook and prepare food for staff onboard (a plus for all positions).
- Fluent in English (C1 level), both in writing and speaking.
Salary and Benefits:
A competitive salary package will be offered, negotiable based on your experience and skills. In addition to the base salary, a bonus can be paid out every 3rd month, is available if the catch is more than predicted. The bonus is dependent on that you are employed at the time of bonus pay out.
